Just got my bike today and it matches the ratings that have been given by the other reviewers except for two issues:

1.) The seat "clunks" when I use it and it drives me crazy!! Tried all the settings for the seat but it makes noise when I start really pedaling! Finally got a bit used to it and use the sound to help me get in a cadence! It would be totally quiet if it were not for the seat making this noise!

2.) The description in the warranty clearly states that the warranty is VOID if the bike is assembled by the person who orders the bike via mail order!! Certainly not mentioned by any of the reviewers and there it was in black and white on page 46 of the owner's manual: "Sales where the unit is delivered unassembled (in a carton) to the end user (e.g. mail order or internet sales) without a service contract purchased through the dealer VOIDS the Warranty". This is insane and SHOULD preclude this item from being sold my Amazon!!

Other than these issues it is working great and providing a decent workout for an old guy!!

Update: 5 Feb 10. Still clunking along but now the heart rate monitor is giving me totally inaccurate readings! Got the scare of a lifetime when it indicated my heart rate at 160 BPM the other day!! Screen went red and flashing that I had exceeded a safe heart rate. Now it just goes from 76 to 156 all through each of my exercise programs and is totally worthless!

I looked at several recumbent bikes before settling on this one. It came a couple of days ago and I assembled it yesterday with no problems. All tools required are included with the bike although you might want to use an adjustable wrench on the pedals. I had read several reviews about how quiet the bike is but they understate it. It makes no noise whatsoever. This bike is solid - not like the cheap stuff you find at most sporting goods stores. The seat does not rock like some I have used. The control panel looks great and gives you all the information you would want (just like the ones you use at health clubs). All in all I could not be more pleased with this purchase.

The bike developed a clicking sound two weeks after receiving the bike.

Contacted Amazon and was told to contact the manufacturer.

Its been two months, called Diamonback every 2 weeks and was told somebody would contact me to have my bike serviced. Called them back today, nobody picked up the phone. Left messages with a Scott and David, both promised to call me back.

The click developed into a thud 3 weeks in and it has been completely unusable.

Then I read it here that there's no support if bought from online. Amazon should have put a disclaimer here and should not have passed the buck!

Now looking for ways to get my money back hopefully my credit card issuer can help.

I bought this because it was both a recumbent bike and a rower. I am very happy with this product because the quality is the best I have had with any fitness equipment I own. It is so quiet and sturdy and easy to use. I can go from bike to rower in seconds, making it easy to rotate every couple of miles if desired.
The extra bonus is that you can use it for strength training by just pulling the resistant bar while standing. And a few other options are shown in the book that comes with it.
I would recommend this product for the quality and ease of use. Easy to fold up if needed.

I bought the bike and it worked for about 3 weeks. I never could get the tension controls to work. Then the pedals fell off. I tried reattaching them but they would not stay on the bike longer than a few minutes. I contacted the manufacturer and was told they had no replacement parts available. So, I called Amazon and they sent a replacement. The replacement worked for 1 week before the exact same problem happened. Amazon is taking that one back too, but the product seems to have issues.

Maybe others have had better luck, but I wanted to share my experience in the hopes that you don't have to go thru what I have.

UPDATE: After I returned bike #2, I bought the "Schwinn Active 20 Series Recumbent Exercise Bike" and it works great. It is about $100 more expensive, but it is well worth it.

I noticed that the price on this ironman now is much lower then when I originally purchased it - which speaks volumes about the product as well. You get what you pay for.

The concept is a good one, but the bike is still too small for my son who is 2 1/2. He can sit on it, however, and does enjoy that. But, now the seat has broken off and I'll have to contact the company to see if we can get a replacement. I suspect that the bike isn't made to be very durable, and I will steer clear from buying this brand of toy in the future.

Okay, Im actually one of the people who read the reviews before purchasing. Although there were neg, there were more positive so I went on and bought it. however, I wish I could get my money back. This thing makes you feel like you are gliding on air. I didnt even sweat until like 20 minutes in and it was only a couple of beads of sweating? UGH, I am like a moderate workout person and since having a baby 10 weeks ago, I needed something to help shed the pounds, but this is not the machine for me. I ended getting a membership at the gym for only 20 bucks a month were their are real ellipticals and Im sweating in no time and doing 45 minutes. I now have my edge trainer listed on Craiglist for sale!!!!! There is absolutely no resistance on this thing!!!

I just got it today, which I am supprised, because it is here 4 days before it should be (not complaining). The standard shipping is really fast! I took me about 20 minutes to put it together, although the wrentches that some with it are not that great. I tryed it for the first time and it feels easier then walking. I ordered this bike to help my wife rehabilitate from 4 months in the hospital. Being a recumbent makes it easier and more comfortable to sit in than a regular exercise bike.

Putting it together was somewhat difficult as I was doing it by myself. If you have some help it should be no problem.That aside all the parts were in separate labeled packs that matched a different area of the bike. No parts were missing. All tools needed were included (screwdriver, hex wrenches, etc.). The bike has built in leveling devices for use on a hard surface. The bike is well constructed and is absolutely silent when in use (after about a month of daily use by my wife and myself).

The bike features an electronic program for various difficulty levels and terrain. No matter what shape you are in you will be able to push yourself or take it easy if need be. The screen shows calories burned, speed, time and levels.

The heart rate meter is in the handle bars next to the seat. It's OK but you need to get sweaty before it works well.

I received my cycle relatively quick. the packaging was intact so i was like, okay maybe i will not end up with the broken knob. I unpacked and sure enough,the handle bar adjustment knob was broken. LOL the rear bar was also bent, but since it does not play a significant role in stability or performance i let that slide. I believe the damage is due to how the product is boxed, not shipped. It's boxed so you have to practically destroy the box to remove, making it harder to return.
It rides smoothly, easy to adjust friction knob. It is quick to increase resistance so i learned that 1/8th is better than 1/4 turns, as it ages i can make larger turns.
All in all, i love the cycle, it was worth the money. It is gym quality and i use it every other day. besides the packaging its great.

I just opened my Gazelle, after buying it for myself for Christmas (yes, I thought of every excuse in the book!) I finally put it together and did my first workout (I also bought the tapes). I highly recommend getting the tape because he teaches you all of the techniques and the time goes by very quickly. I had the option of doing 10 minutes (beginner), 20 (intermediate) or 30 minutes (advanced). I opted for the 20 minutes for my first time and it was great. I really look forward to doing this tomorrow! Again, the tape is great (it's a 3-pack, I did the lower body workout) because it's not all about just gliding back and forth, Tony teaches you that it's all different techniques!!! It is also light and easy to fold up and put away which is a plus. I look forward to doing this tomorrow!!!!!

After going through two expensive magnetic track bikes (one over $400) and having the drive fail each time, I figured it was time to go with a simple old tried-and-true tension control drive.

-The number one plus for me is that the bike is perfectly constructed so that my knees are never at risk of scratching the console or handle bars. I'm only 5'11" and I've had embarrassing accidents scraping the skin off my knee during an intense workout.
-Took a bit to assemble but it feels sturdy, the seat is OK
-It offers an even tension that goes as high as I'd ever like.
-Doesn't take up too much space in my living room
-Calorimeter is accurate

Cons_=

-Assembly is a hassle but you only need to do it once
-Except in my case where I had to detach the front pole the tension control connects through so I could properly assemble it with the tension cord stretched over the top of the metal piece (otherwise there is no tension as others have experienced apparently)
-The instructions neglect to mention the latter and also had a misprint about the screws
-Hopefully the pre-fixed seat positions fit you as perfectly as they fit me. (I guess you could always drill a new hole)
-Seat isn't uncomfortable, but it's no lounge chair seat, feels like it'll last long though.

This product is nowhere near worth the money. When mine arrived, it had a couple bent parts that made it difficult to put together. Once I got it together, it worked as advertised for three months. Then a strap got caught in the fly wheel and the rower no longer worked. I spent several hours one weekend taking it apart and untangling the strap. The machine worked for about two more months before the same thing happened. This time, it couldn't be fixed, and the rower was unusable. I continued to use it as a bike for a couple more months. Then that too broke. It now needs to be thrown out.

This machine is badly designed and poorly made. It is also grossly overpriced. I gave it two stars instead of one only because in the few months in which it was working, it worked as advertised.

Reviews on this item looked great, so I decided to try it. The outcome? I am disappointed, though the product is tolerable considering the price. The biggest problem is that the machine is not stable--when I bike on it, it moves around following my feet movement. So I have to put my hands on it to keep it in place and get some excercise. If I raise the resistance level, it becomes almost unusable because of the movement. (Maybe this is more so because I have hardwood flooring at home, and it might not move as much on a carpet. I could not try, since on my rather small carpet, the machine moved WITH the carpet. If you reduce the resistance level, it does not move around too bad--just up and down a bit with my feet.) In addition, the pedal is not that well made, feeling heavy and making small sound.

Well, considering the price, I thought I could reduce the resistance level and tolerate the annoying movement and uncomfortable feeling of the pedals. But I found that I am not using it after a few tries, mostly due to the inconvenience. I simply cannot enjoy it. So I am returning it.

I do not recommend this product. Especially if you want some real exercise, consider other options. But if you are ok with slow pedaling at a low resistance level, you might not have much complaint.

I am not happy b/c the shipping cost will be quite high, given the product weight. The service representative wasn't very kind either, though again, tolerable.
